My favorite cupcakes are strawberry with lemon icing. My favorite songs are ones you can sing really loudly, and my favorite books are those that have a little magic mixed up with a little silliness—which is probably why I ended up as a children’s book author.

I have a degree in English from the University of Notre Dame, where I learned how to properly punctuate dragon dialogue. I’ve lived in Connecticut, Indiana, London, New York, and New Jersey, and I now call Pennsylvania my home, halfway between Philly and Amish country, where I live with my husband, two kids, two cats, and one very energetic dog (who wants desperately to be friends with the cats, who aren’t quite as interested).

My debut picture book, IZMELDA THE FAIREST DRAGON OF THEM ALL!, tells the story of a dragon who wants desperately to be friends with a princess… who isn’t quite as interested…

And, here’s a fun fact: Izmelda and Penelope are really good friends with a family of pigs – the Pigg Family. (I know, I know – unlikely name, right? But it’s true! It’s really their name!)

You’ve probably already heard of them – they got famous after spending a day at the market? (One of them stayed home, one of them had roast beef, etc. etc.) Yeah. Them.
